Olivia & Kyle’s Special Day

Olivia & Kyle married in a local church and then had their reception at her parents home in their backyard.

As a wedding photographer, I have had the pleasure of capturing many beautiful backyard weddings. These intimate, personal events can be a great option for couples looking for a unique and meaningful way to celebrate their love. Here are a few tips for couples planning a backyard wedding:

  1. Consider the logistics: Before you start planning, make sure your backyard is a feasible location for your wedding. Consider factors such as the size of the space, access to electricity and water, and whether you will need to rent additional equipment or tents. It may also be necessary to obtain any necessary permits or licenses for the event.

  2. Personalize the space: A backyard wedding is a great opportunity to put your own personal touch on the event. Consider incorporating meaningful decorations and personal touches, such as photos or sentimental objects, to make the space feel special and unique.

  3. Plan for weather: Depending on the location and time of year, it may be necessary to have a backup plan in case of inclement weather. Renting a tent or having a covered area can provide protection from rain or extreme heat.

  4. Invite an intimate group: Because backyard weddings are typically smaller and more intimate affairs, consider inviting only your closest friends and family. This will create a more personal and relaxed atmosphere for your special day.

  5. Hire a wedding planner: Planning a wedding, especially in a backyard setting, can be a lot of work. Hiring a wedding planner can take some of the stress off of you and ensure that everything runs smoothly on the day of the event.

Backyard weddings can be a beautiful and intimate way to celebrate your love. With proper planning and attention to detail, they can be a truly memorable and special event. As a wedding photographer, I have had the privilege of capturing many backyard weddings and am always inspired by the unique, personal touches that couples bring to these events.

Rustic Charlotte Wedding

This groom was so in love!

As the sun began to set on a beautiful autumn evening in Charlotte, North Carolina, I arrived at the rustic barn where Michael and Margo were set to exchange their vows. The couple had chosen this charming venue for its intimate atmosphere and stunning outdoor setting, and as I set up my equipment and began to scout out the best angles for capturing their special day, I couldn't help but feel excited for the celebration to come.

The barn was adorned with lush greenery and delicate flowers, creating a romantic and elegant atmosphere. As the guests arrived and took their seats, the energy in the air was palpable, and I could tell that everyone was eager to witness the union of these two amazing people.

When the time came for the ceremony to begin, Margo made her way down the aisle, looking absolutely radiant in her stunning white gown. As she approached Michael, who was waiting for her at the altar, his face lit up with joy, and I knew that this was going to be a moment I would never forget.

As the couple exchanged their heartfelt vows and exchanged rings, I snapped away, capturing every precious moment. The love and emotion in the room was palpable, and I knew that these photos would be treasured for years to come.

After the ceremony, we headed outside for the cocktail hour and reception, where the party really got started. The barn was transformed into a lively and festive space, with twinkling lights and a delicious spread of food and drink. As the night went on, I captured all of the special moments, from the first dance to the cutting of the cake, and even some impromptu speeches from the couple's loved ones.

As the evening came to a close and the newlyweds headed off into the night, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such a special day. Michael and Margo's barn wedding was truly a magical and unforgettable event, and I was honored to have been able to capture it all through my lens.

Uptown Elopement

This was such a fun wedding!

This was such a fun session. It’s rare that I don’t meet a couple at least once before their big day. In this case the booking was a little last minute and I actually had the date open.

I’m so glad that I was available! This was one of those sessions that you shoot 10 other sessions to get too. Everything was perfect and I totally loved all the cheers that the bride and groom got as we were walking through uptown. This was one of my favorite weddings of 2021.

As a wedding photographer in Charlotte, North Carolina, I have the privilege of capturing some of the most special moments in my clients' lives. From the first look to the last dance, my goal is to document the love, joy, and emotion of each unique wedding day.

Charlotte is an amazing city for wedding photography, with a wide range of stunning venues to choose from. From historic plantations to modern ballrooms, there is a venue to suit every couple's vision. Some of my personal favorites include the elegant Duke Mansion, the picturesque Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden, and the iconic Ballantyne Hotel.

One of the things I love most about being a wedding photographer in Charlotte is the diversity of the couples I work with. Whether they're planning a traditional Southern wedding or a more modern celebration, I enjoy getting to know each couple and customizing my approach to their specific needs and desires.

As a photographer, it's also important for me to stay up to date with the latest trends in wedding photography. From the use of film to the latest editing techniques, I'm always learning and evolving my style to stay fresh and relevant.

Ultimately, my goal as a wedding photographer in Charlotte is to create beautiful, timeless images that my clients will cherish for a lifetime. It's an honor to be a part of such a special day, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to document the love and joy of each unique wedding.
